Nothing like a good berry smoothie to wake you up in the morning or drink before a work-out.
Blueberries and Health
Blueberries are full of antioxidants. Studies suggest that blueberries may reduce memory decline, may reduce heart attack risk, and may provide other anti-ageing benefits. They are also an excellent source of vitamins C and K, manganese and a good source of dietary fiber.
Here’s one easy recipe that’ll have you enjoying in a matter of minutes.
Ingredients
-
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
-
1 banana
-
1 cup of mixed frozen *organic blueberries and strawberries (raspberries and blackberries optional)
-
1 cup dairy-free plain or vanilla yogurt (optional)
Method
Blend everything together in a blender. Pour into a tall glass and garnish with fresh blueberries.
*Unfortunately, domestic blueberries test positive for 42 different pesticide residues in EWG’s examination of pesticide loads – so purchase organic ones when you can.
